Deer are lovely 150 lb. rats. An adult will consume a bale of
precious foliage a day. They have changed the look of the landscape
by eliminating young trees and saplings and chewing the leaves off
all trees up to the height of five feet. They will eat everything in
the garden except the concrete patio blocks.

There are three times more deer in the Northeast US now than there
were when the Indians owned the land. Now that the Indians spend
their time running casinos and the Wolves and Bears are playing
professional sports, the only predator left is the automobile. We
have a herd of five deer sleeping in our yard. My wife has to chase
them away from the begonias by hitting them across the nose with a
folded newspaper. Every time the state raises the issue of deep
population control, cries of "Bambi killer" erupt from the more
sensitive portions of the electorate and the politicians back off.
The only positive action they have taken in the last decade is to
extend the bow hunting season by a week.

Eat more venison. Eat, eat.
