Phil,

The only numbers I know about are inscribed after the M (meters)  
symbol after the focus infinity symbol. My current 50 Summilux has a  
14 which corresponds to 51.4 mm. My 50 Summicron has a 22 which is  
52.2 mm. My 75, 90 and 135 have numbers as well. My older DR and  
collapsible don't have numbers that I can find on the outside. The  
number info is in the appendix of the "Leica Lens Compendium" by  
Edwin Puts.
