Keep in mind that it is the dedicated collectors who formed the core of the LHSA - I expect this is still true today - after all, it started out as a collectors' group. The number of members needed to keep the Society afloat, in the limit, is fairly small. Having said that, I believe a larger member base is certainly healthier for the Society. Each issue of the current Viewfinder contains a much broader range of interesting articles than it did back then, a consequence of the expanded membership. The LHSA is worth joining if one is not a member. I got my package in the mail this week; my 2007 dues shall be paid soon. In closing, let's not forget the Officers of the LHSA, volunteers all, who keep things moving along rather smoothly.
