I don't have time to make any changes to the contest software anytime soon. 
It's working well; it's stable, and it does something
that people understand. I'm very reluctant to start mucking with the insides 
of the code until I'm sure I'd have a free month or
two, which probably won't be until summer 2007.

To produce the contest mechanism, I started with an off-the-shelf software 
package (Gallery 2), learned how it works, and made a
number of modifications to it to support a contest like this. When a 
programmer makes modifications to an existing system, testing
is very important; I actually spent more time testing the code than I did 
modifying it in the first place.
