Subject: [Leica] 6-bit code as installed by Leica

Wow. It does look like a mess.

So if I had to do it as an independent shop, I would make a standard part
clamp for the bayonet, and use an end mill to mill a series of round holes,
using a CNC machine. Or if a CNC machine isn't available, an indexing mount
so that the holes would be placed reliably and precisely.

Not the rectangular hole with rounded corners, that's just extra expense and
detail that the sensor shouldn't need.

Then paint, and clean off any overfill.

My first one might be a mess.

But I wouldn't mess up any unit that I was paid to do.

Did you say Leica did this?

If I was Leica, I would have made up a bunch of bayonet mounts in advance (I
believe they are standard parts) and just swap out the old part for new.

...Vick

Quite disappointing indeed: I suspect the "practical" folk on the list will
have another string to their bows: I'm sure Tom A would do it well ;-)
