Amendment to my astonishment. OK, it's all in the EXIF and was the little
Pentax WPI as you said.
Dang I'm impressed.
Cheers again

Wade, I just took another look at the "braids" picture. Are we talking about
the same image?
That one just doesn't look to me like a low end digi P&S. Very good
resolution in the hair, limited DOF (now that doesn't seem
digi!) and even the OOF parts are very pleasant. No distortion I can see
either. It sure doesn't all sound like a cheapy that
produces barely acceptable pics to me!

Definitely I nice image I think, anyhoo.
Cheers
Hoppy

That one kills me. Its with a cheapo pentax WPI digital point/shoot.

The color image wasn't that great and it wasn't till I put it into
Lightroom and converted it to grayscale did it pop like that. I was
blown away.

The images outta that thing are barely acceptable, but I carry it on
occasion when I don't have room/pockets or its raining.

Wade I enjoyed the textures and tones in this PAW. Looking back through
your previous PAWS, this one is a really great shot.
Striking, original, lovely tones and sharp, sharp.

I'd be interested to learn the technical details, too.
