So far, I'm the only person at my college who knew what "street
photography"
meant when I brought the term up. They either thought it was someone who
just photographed streets (like "Here's a pothole that need fixing.")
or, in
one case, someone who used the street as a mode of expression (like
using a
rectangle of asphalt as my "canvas").

Beyond the fact that it attracts attention - which a 'street
photographer'
doesn't want - I wonder if these self-important idiots have ever stopped
to
think about the fact that the term street photographer means nothing to
99.9% of people on the street. Oh, wait! Street photographer? Isn't that
someone who takes your picture with a cut out of George Bush, or Michael
Jackson, or Ansel Adams? :-)
