The camera would do all the thinking and make the perfect photo for you? Personnally I am very happy the D200 uses my old ais lenses and that I can use them with full function, except for the 3D Matrix exposure mode. I can also use the mf of the lenses to get the correct subject focussed, which so far the AF lens and I have been at odds, and do not consider the AF to be as good as MF. However the AF does work for some types of photos.
