Sony has certainly dented Canon initially. As you mentioned the arrival of new models ought to mix it up to all of our benefits. Locally (Australia) the D200 is finally becoming more generally available but Sony's marketing power has put an awful lot of that Alpha on the shelves in a hurry. Just on pixel power, it's almost half the price of the D200. Sony have the benefit there of the falling DSLR price v performance of each new release. Bring on the FF Alpha with the Zeiss glass options. For Nikon, as stock becomes available the D80 should be a biggie.
