The short reply to this is that since you can't get the MAM archival 
DVD disks in DVD+R, DVD-R are therefore the better choice for long 
term storage.

If you go for discount disks, all bets are off.:-)

It's the middle ground where I've had a lot better experience with 
DVD-R than DVD+R.
