As you may know, it is the home of "Naval Aviation" and a fantastic place for aircraft enthusiasts. I met a fellow who'd bought a Stearman after WWII from the Air force for $300. It even came with a spare engine in a box! I photographed him for a story and he let me fly it a bit. (frontseat) A very little bit since it was his pride and joy and I was just an amateur with a student license. I was also lucky enough to go up with a Navy instructor acquaintance and he taught me how to make carrier approaches with a T-28. The carrier was painted on the ground which makes it a bit less nerve wracking. :-P NAS Pensacola has an aircraft museum containing some beautiful and historic planes. The even have the Cessna Birdog (L-19) which a Vietnamese pilot used to get his family out of Saigon. Landed the darn thing on the deck of a carrier.
