(just altered my subscription)and got a behemoth message with all of the messages as individual attachments. -----Original Message----- From: John Collier [mailto:jbcollier@shaw.ca] Sent: Friday, 28 July 2006 15:11 To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] basic older M lens question Most of the M mount 135mm lenses have removable optical units. You can use a Visoflex and a series of adapters to get an SLR of sorts. Handy for the occasional times you might need an SLR. I use just such a set up for my infrequent close-up work. Here is a site with a good introduction to the various Visoflex models and what not: http://elshaw.tripod.com/Visoflex/Visoflex.html However the lens in question, an M mount 135/4 Elmar, will not need adapters to fit your camera. No complaints with the Elmar but I would recommend looking for a 135/4 Tele-Elmar. A good example is a stunning performer even wide open. The lens had a good long production run so it is easy to find and relatively inexpensive (leically speaking) to buy.
