Here are four images that I think show the versatility of the 50/2.8
Elmar (new style). These I took of a friend of mine on a business trip
in NYC several weeks ago.

The 50/2.8 is the only lens I took on the trip. Film was BW400CN
processed and scanned by Walmart. These are straight off the CD
(downsampled for size only).

I'm impressed by the Frontier scans. I scanned one neg with my Minolta
5400. I was able to make a very nice 11x14 print with that. Still the
low res Frontier scans are great for digital presentation and proofing.

I really like the way the Elmar renders OOF areas. It's not something
you can duplicate with Gaussian blur in PS.

BTW, I'm surprised the night shots even turned out. We'd just come from
having a few beers at a local tavern. I learned long ago that methanol
can thwart focusing ability and steadiness of hand. Photography rule
#27, don't drink if you think you'll happen across a Hindenburg moment.
Well, this wasn't the Hindenburg, but further testament that the 50/2.8
is easy lens to focus and otherwise handle.

I haven't used my 50 'lux since I bought the Elmar.
