Jeffery Smith New Orleans, LA http://www.400tx.com -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+jsmith342=cox.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+jsmith342=cox.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Bill Sent: Saturday, May 20, 2006 11:32 PM To: 'Leica Users Group' Subject: [Leica] WWKD? What Would Kyle Do? Ok, so I am attending a convention of bankruptcy attorneys (it's how I support my Leicaholic habit) in the fair but wounded city of New Orleans. I have had a wonderful afternoon with Jeffrey Smith who was so kind as to take me around the city to view and photograph the devastation nine months later as well as take me out to the shores of the gulf in Mississippi to see where the eye of Katrina made landfall (I'll post them later). I am walking to my evening event when I pass the adjacent ballroom which is now festooned with balloons red and white, obviously a political event of some kind. Hmmm... Earlier Jeffrey mentioned that one of the city's political candidates was probably going to have his reception. So, peeking in, I surmised that it would be for Ray Nagan. We went looking for a late dinner and upon our return to the hotel, I suggested that we stop by and see how things were going. The crowds were forming but there was no sign of the candidate. So I wandered in, R8 /DMR in hand and my domke F2 on my shoulder, and thought "What would Kyle do?" So I blended in with the press and was there for the announcement and acceptance speech: http://photobynelsch.smugmug.com/gallery/1477452/1/70623313/Original Bill in Denver, er New Orleans _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
