Phil, I'd have described what Ilse used as those state of the art tools?, or 
those cutting edge tools? as they were then. And they're still good tools, 
as you know.

This is a wonderful article from The Washington Post with a great photo by
German photographer Ilse Bing and her 1936 Leica.  Just makes you realize
what you could do with those early tools if you knew how.
