Um, hold on here. My humble D70 has two knobs on the
top, and two finger/thumb wheels. 

So knobs in and of themselves should not justify a higher price.

If one shoot in full manual mode, the finger thumb wheels work
very well for adjusting aperture and shutter speed without
removing the camera from one's eyes. 

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against, and might even prefer
a shutter speed dial and aperture adjustment on the lens, but for
practical evaluation, the finger/thumb wheel is easily just as
convenient. In any case,  it has NOTHING to do with menus.

Menus have nothing to do with it, and positing this new
Panasonic body  vs. alleged fidly menus on other DSLR's
is a completely false argument.
