thanks, i didn't know that they were a separate company until now.

however, (research by Google shows) they do share a common lineage.
Porsche Design was founded in 1972
by  Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, eldest son of Ferry Porsche and
head of the (car) designer studio which among other things created
the 911 directly from his drawings.  until 2005, FA Porsche was on the 
board of the car company.  in 2003, Porsche AG and Porsche Design
founded Porsche Lizenz-und Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG (PLH)
as a joint venture.
