I've found the newer versions of Epson software and drivers --
downloadable from the web site for most Epson scanners -- to be much
improved over older versions.

I've had zero problems with Epson scanning software on PhotoShop 7  
and my G4 dual 1.25G. 10.4.3 OSX. For what it's worth.
