I think that the SP is one of those cameras that has great specs, but just
doesn't carry it off well.  The exception would be the motor.  In the late
fifties, to have a mostly reliable motor might make one accept a lot of
compromises.  Although, I would have to say that someone who knew how to
make the MP sing would run rings around the motor as it always worked and no
batteries were required.  Trying to keep the early motors working in jungle
conditions would be a nightmare.

The viewfinder is not as clear, the rangefinder patch is so, so, and the
wide angle viewfinder is convenient for being attached but not as good in
any way as a good external finder with framelines.

I have tried to love the SP but it just does not compare to an M3/2 in the
key focus/viewfinder department.  On the other hand, the Nikon F has a whole
different feel about it, definately the best in class for the era.
