Why not start her off with a Bessa-R, R2 or R3, think of them as entry 
level Leicas (and you can use the lenses on your camera too),
though if  you're thinking of something compact and easy to use take a 
look at a Yashica  GX, superb fast lens 1,7/40mm, compact, excellent 
auto-exposure.
