Archived posting to the Leica Users Group, 2005/11/21
[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]I was planning to post these yesterday, but SWMBO had me picking up leaves in the garden and doing other non-essential silly things all day, as compensation for me being away on Saturday. But it was worth it, since it was a great pleasure to spend a wonderful day with 4 like-minded people walking around Antwerp. I will be posting a gallery of the city, but for my PAW I have chosen to show you my fellow LUGgers. In the spirit of the occasion, several of these were taken with a Leica lens. The first image is from a long pedestrian tunnel under the river Schelde. It is far from technically perfect, but I still like it. Michiel is in action with his Linhof (see below) and tripod: http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2005/2005_46.jpg And here are Philippe and Lucien (from the back) on the way down to the tunnel on the 1930s-era wooden escalator: http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2005/2005_46alt1.jpg I had my Canon 1DII; Erwin, Philippe and Lucien had various Leicas, but Michiel had by far the biggest and most impressive camera: http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2005/2005_46alt2.jpg (Philippe being threatened with it, Lucien looking on in the background) Michiel and his Linhof in action: http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2005/2005_46alt3.jpg Erwin Puts: http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2005/2005_46alt4.jpg Philippe and Michiel in conversation, while Lucien photographs them: http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2005/2005_46alt5.jpg We stopped by a camera shop which has a good selection of things analogue. For film/chemistry/paper buffs, this is the place to be: http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2005/2005_46alt6.jpg Finally, the only picture that does NOT contain fellow LUGgers. "Madame Pippi" is a Belgian institution. Her job is to sit outside a public toilet to collect money. I have never seen one doing anything else beyond emptying the dish with the coins. Here are two of them taking a break from that hard work: http://www.nathanfoto.com/paw/2005/2005_46alt7.jpg The complete PAW index is at: http://www.nathanfoto.com/indexpaw2005.html and comments and critique are always welcome and appreciated.
