I used manual metering and just set it once using the multipattern mode of the R8. I might have made slight adjustments on some that were darker lit, but I do not remember ever using the spot meter. The slides do show a color shift, but I corrected as best as I could in PS. When you are surrounded by parents of the students they don't mind a bit if noise from the shutter, but the R8 isn't that loud. I've been shooting the plays for a few years now and have a blast doing it for the kids and the drama teacher. I'm the only one he allows to do this.
