Certainly a strategy for a potential dM would be to fill in wide angle holes
with dual purpose choices. For example, the 28 Summicron is a wonderful
middle wide that would make a very nice 35 Summicron substitute on the
proposed dM. Likewise, the 35 ASPH variants will make good 50mm choices on a
dM. Where Leica needs lenses are in the 15-18mm range to substitute for the
21 to 24 focal lengths. Hoped for is an inspired lens designer who can come
up with a new design that is not huge but will work with a digital sensor.
Especially for press work if a TTL flash enabled dM can be used with the
equivalent of a 21-24mm lens for rope line work and crowd scenes the dM
would find a ready home.
