Hi Alan,

(and others who upgraded from a 20D to a 5D.)
How is the performance of the 5D in low-light,
high ISO, compared to the 20D ?
I am very tempted by the full frame sensor,
for sure.

Thanks much in advance for any information.

=====================================================================

Phong, I shoot mainly at low ISO's, but when I have had to crank up
the ISO because of low light, the performance has been excellent. Did
some shooting with the new Canon 24-105 f/4 indoors under low
incandescent levels and was pleased with the results. Noise levels are
very very low at ISO 400 and 800. I have not done any shooting at
1600. Reports from others have indicated the noise levles even at 1600
are acceptable (but one person's "acceptable" may be another person's
junk). More than the low noise levels, is the more familar feel of the
viewfinder (any 1.6 SLR viewfinder I find to be artificial looking and
sometime tunnel-like)(I have not used Canon 1D with 1.3 viewfinder).
Since the prrof is in the pudding, I think my results with the 5D are
far better than what I was getting with the 20D. To coin a phrase,
your results may differ. Is the 5D worth the premium over the 20D?
For me, yes.
