An interesting hypothesis occured to me last week: is Nikon's delay of the D200 due to Sony partnering with Konica/Minolta. If Sony is going to build a new series of DSLR's with Minolta why would they share the killer chip with NIkon? HMMMM. Maybe there is a reason that emerging industries find verticle integration so important to survival.
