David,
The announcements have more to do with nailing the coffin shut in Canon's
case and trying to get market share in Panasonic's case. An interesting
hypothesis occured to me last week: is Nikon's delay of the D200 due to Sony
partnering with Konica/Minolta. If Sony is going to build a new series of
DSLR's with Minolta why would they share the killer chip with NIkon? HMMMM.
 Maybe there is a reason that emerging industries find verticle integration
so important to survival.
