But my fondest hockey memory was the 1969 World Championship final, when Czechoslovakia beat the Soviet Union--I was an 8-year old child living in Communist Poland back then, and the whole country (where hockey is otherwise not that popular) was glued to the screen, hoping that the Czechs would be able extract some revenge for the crushing of the Prague spring the previous year, albeit in this small way.
