Archived posting to the Leica Users Group, 2005/10/09
[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]When I resubscribed, I opted for archive which I had never done before. Didn't take into account that I would not have current inquiries about the S.F. meeting or about LHSA membership. As for membership, you do not have to own a Leica. Or any piece of Leitz/Leica gear. Or a lens or accessory that will fit onto a Leica! The only requirements are that you be alive and breathing and have the spare change to cover the annual dues. No citizenship requirements, no passport checking - except for B.D. ;-) and maybe Kyle ;-) - Someone has already mentioned the LHSA website via which one can join. As to the meeting, full information is on the website and I believe one can register on-line. Briefly, there is a Napa Velley winery tour on Thursday 27 October; we shall be in two groups visiting two wineries; the groups will do one such in the morning and the other in the afternoon, swapping wineries. The Board meets Friday - all members are welcome to attend - and there is an organized San Francisco city tour; other members will explore the city at their leisure. Saturday is program day, speakers on photographic and Leica subjects (when the Kodak guy/gal will appear) and Sat evening the anmnual banquet. Raffle prizes include a gray hammertone Leica MP camera set (with 35/2 APO-Summicron and MP winder). The annual member trade fair ends the meeting Sunday morning. BUT, this year being in the Bay area, I thought it would be fun to organize a post-meeting visit to Yosemite; we've engaged motor coaches to drive to the Park Sunday afternoon and to be available to ferry us from Yosemite View Lodge into the valley and back, returning to San Francisco Wednesday morning. The meeting hotel, the Marines' Memorial Club, is sold out but we have arrangements with two neighboring small boutique hotels. I hope to see many LUGGERS in a couple of weeks and next year in Wetzlar! Seth
