Concerning Nikon I've read on LFI that LS5000 vs. LS4000 the only difference is speed, and this one is more or less priced as the 5400 II. The first version has an iffy film carrier and all the bugs were not worked out. This is not to say that the Nikon is not one wonderful scanner but it is a lot more expensive.
