I have never used the Canon software.  It gets terrible reviews.  I 
use Adobe Camera Raw and follow the advise in Bruce Fraser's Adobe 
Camera Raw books.  He came to South Carolina and gave a workshop to 
our ASMP group that was really outstanding.  Everything I know about 
Raw applies only to Adobe Camera Raw.
