But I think this illustrates the pitfalls of maniulating JPEG files, and as Tina says, the Photoshop tools need to be used sparingly. As always, there is no free lunch. I have found that while the Shadows/Highlights filter is great at bringing out detail in shadows and highlights, it also lends an overall plasticky look to the image. For that reason, I have basically stopped using it.
