though they seem to have forgotten Canada isn't part of the US. The
Vancouver urban search and rescue team (set up for earthquakes) has been on
the ground with the Louisiana State Police since about day 3?

The US government also requested aircraft from the major US carriers and Air
Canada as well - they have had at least one Airbus with their own mechanics
and spares down there ferrying refugees out of NO Airport to Texas and other
points south since fairly early on. There is regular semi-official cross
border cooperation on a regular basis - forest fire fighters and water
bombers to California when needed, utility crews during storms and blackouts
etc - at this level, this is probably being treated in much the same way
