Such were my plans...until a career change and a company policy that 
essentially mandated a new car unless I was willing for forgo a bit of 
the reimbursement.  I break even so I'm OK with it.

That, and when SWMBO decreed she wanted a new car.  Remembering the 
credo of happy wife = happy life, I bought her exactly what she wanted. 
  A diesel VW Golf.  I'm grateful it wasn't a new BMW... :)
