Subject: [Leica] Scanning Ilford HP5+...question

Listers,

I shot my first roll of film this past weekend, IIIf with a "new"
Summaron 35/3.5, and got the film processed today, at a pro lab, Ilford
HP5+.

I shot the roll metering by "eyeball," and I'm very pleased with the
quality of the images, so far.

However, when I tried to scan them, first using Nikon Coolscan IV, with
Nikon's software, I got lousy results, then using VueScan with the same
scanner, and lousy results, again. So, I tried scanning them on my
Epson 4180, and got beautiful results.

I checked my settings again in NikonScan and VueScan and everything
seems correct, but I get very grainy scans.

Any thoughts or suggestions about why I'm having this problem?

TIA,

Ken
