My other son-in-law has a business partner who was competing that day. We didn't arrive in time to see him compete, but I managed to get a few shots of the "junior" division. FWIW, each competitor is required to stand, as you can see, out in front of the seated judges and perform what I think of as a "compulsory," a specified routine within a set period of time, with various "strike" combinations and rhythms. Fascinating, and intimidating, at least for me. Unfortunately, I could not get closer to the drummers. I got in as close as I could without arousing the ire of the judges.
