When things happen one of the first things I will do is check the
powersupply(s). Too many systems are built with marginal supplies. Add cards
and in case peripherals to a system and it can go over the edge, especially
if
things are hot.

There's a lot that can be said on the issue of power supplies, but unless you
know they should always be suspect.

I like these:
http://www.pcpowercooling.com/home/index.php

cause their spec is full load at 50 degrees C

No suggestions for external drive power supplies. I should look into those.
