I think in that timeframe that Maxtor was bought out. New management
often means changes and change is not always good.

I know that in that timeframe that Seagate implemented six sigma
throughout manufacturing and design.

I don't think Seagate has anyone else make their drives. I would be
surprised if that was the case with Maxtor, WD, or Hitachi.
