Thanks all.

Now that it's mentioned, 52mm is a "sweet spot" for me, as I have 
several Nikkor AIS
and AF lenses with this filter size as well.

I do have 1 77mm filter size lens, the Nikkor 12-24 DX zoom, but I don't 
think I'll
be sticking a red filter on her anytime soon.

Thanks again. With vignetting on the wider lenses not an issue (I'm a 
worry wart,
I guess), I'll be looking at step up ring options.
