Fuji films manufactured elsewhere than Greenwood S.C. have the same quality control, they just do not have to support the whole North American infastructure. Little things like blimps, a whole lot of technical help for Wal-Mart, U.S. salaries and benefits, advertising and other marketing support. All the same reasons Leica's cost less elsewhere than in the U.S. If it is cheaper and from a reliable source importing huge quantities then go for it. Just stay away from some small shop as they are getting the film from jobbers so that the film has passed through several hands who may or may not have stored the film properly. B&H buys ten thousand rolls directly from a distributer in Kuala Lampur, the whole shipment is air freighted to the warehouse in Brooklyn. Compare that to Fred's camera who buys one thousand rolls from a distributer in the Ukraine. Fred offers 900 rolls to Abbey Camera at a very small mark up. Abby then sells 500 rolls to a jobber in Brooklyn who then offers it to you. Could be good, might not.
