Subject: [Leica] Film scanners, DSLRs

This site shows snippets from various film scanners and C*non DSLRs. It
was mentioned on the Olympus list earlier today.

It's really interesting how good 4000 dpi film scans are in terms of
detail, compared to print scans and even drum scans. The page includesa
few samples from former(?) LUGger Austin Franklin's Leaf scanner, with its
much-touted dynamic range.

And if you compare the level of detail and general look of the 4000 dpi
scanners vs. the C*non DSLRs, you can easily see both the greater detail in
film, and the smoother quality of digital. None of which shows what a
print would look like. It does show how much there is to work with.

Some useful information here, I think.
