If you do this at the beginning of the shoot, you should be OK as 
long as you hold the lighting constant. So you only have to take one 
photo of the Greta Macbeth card (the most famous brand).

The only problem is that some pigments are metamerismic. They 
basically reflect light differently depending on whether they are 
under natural, tungsten, or fluourescent light. In this case, there 
is no accurate color for them and you have to color balance by eye.
