People are, however, reacting to the attempt by Nikon to impose what amounts to a proprietary standard in an era when open standards are the norm. I certainly hope they reconsider, because I would hate to see Canon become a quasi-monopoly. My own personal choice for Canon DSLRs when I went digital was based on one thing: the ability to use Leica R lenses, something which is not possible with Nikon, Olympus or any of the other DSLR brands.
