When it's a family event with kids and what not, the D70 always comes along. The SB800 flash really does the job indoors for me at these kinds of events. An M6 with a lens or two usually came along as well for B&W pics, or an FM3a with a nice 105/2.5 if I was in that mood. I originally bought the D70 to experiment with studio flash, but I find I use it more and more over time. Up until a few weeks ago, I was always shooting primes on the D70: 24/2.8 was the widest, and then the normal litany of AF primes: 35/2, 45/2.8P, 50/1.8 and 85/1.8. But then I snagged the 12-24/f4 zoom last week. Until then, wide lenses (28 and 21mm) were the sole province of the M6 kit. My 28/2 has special status for its speed, but otherwise, my D70 has now become a quite capable wide angle shooter. So I finally snagged a new bag (Domke F803 satchel) for the M6 kit and reconfigured the Domke "little smaller" bag as a dedicated D70 kit bag. It nicely fits the body, 12-24, 45/2.8, 85/1.8, the 35/2 if I'm in the mood, the SB800 and a Sekonic 358 meter. This finally gives the D70 equal "grab and go" status to the M's. So far, I've still been picking up the smaller satchel of M6's on the way out the door. I'm sort of on a film groove, trying out different medium speed B&W films and experimenting with processing. But the D70 "stock" is "appreciating" these days and only time will tell.
