The mirror lock up is usefull for macro shots, and I do very few these days.
So not a vital feature. I hardly ever used the self timer. Neither is
missed today as I just don't use them. If I need them I can go to my F-3
Nikon, which sits and gathers dust. Or I can use the R8, which I prefer.

No, Nikon choose to eliminate that most useful feature in order to force
you
to purchase the F5. I have an old Nikon EL2 which has the self timer
mirror
up function and a
mirror lockup. I wish the F100 had this feature. I would buy one in a New
York minute!
