The F100 is a wonderful camera - but if you need high-speed sequences,
or you need a camera that can really take a beating, the F5 was the only
choice.

The F100 killed the F5 sales. The F100 is Nikon's best film SLR. Unless
you want to spend $2600 on the F6.
