Adam,
I'd have gone with this in a heart beat with some adjustment even though 
it's a long lens and lack of depth. Simply because it now has the potential 
of an interesting photograph of the renowned coach! Yeah he's playing with 
his son and you aren't going to get both crispy sharp.  But the impact of 
the coach and his name on the shirt can produce a more interesting photo 
because you can write a caption saying something, " the coach warms up a 
future pitcher." ;-)

Therefore I'd have worked on this image as is and avoided cutting off his 
left shoulder and change the caption to read... "Coach Tony DeFrancesco 
warms up a future pitcher." ;-)  Then if there was a chance you could get 
them together later as they walked back to the dugout, then it would make 
for a better composition face on........ maybe?
