Subject: [Leica] Weird question - HELP!

Absolutely! That's what I figured it was, until I realized that the
second one I had also had that Februar 11 date - but in 1868, rather
than 1886. At this point I've got myself convinced that they are a pair,
and that someone screwed up one of the dates. :-)

It could just as easily be a private commemoration (birth,
anniversaries, weddings, promotions, etc., etc.), couldn't it ?

My guess is that they are German or from the Austro-Hungarian Empire
("Februar"
not "Fevrier" so unlikely to be French). Any marks on the base or
elsewhere?
