Subject: [Leica] clarification needed: DMR price?

I think the thing to consider in terms of the current - or
soon-to-be-shipped - top of the DSLR's, including the DMR - is that
unless one is a working PJ who beats cameras to death, the quality with
this iteration of these cameras is such that there is no reason for one
to not see this purchase as a long-term one. Sure, the electronics may
die, and the cameras may be expensive to maintain over a long time. But
given how little use the average shooter will give these cameras in
comparison to what they are designed to do, and given current image
quality - particularly the Canons with their incredibly low noise levels
- why would anyone figure that in 12-18-24 months they'll need to buy
again. It's nonsense.

Sure it will, if you make up some pixels ( interpolation ) when you do
the prints. Of course, who knows where those made up pixels came from.
Probably a programmers' desk in some dark corner of an high tech office
building. Who said you must have light for photography?

I have a buddy that is calling B+H 3-4 times a DAY to get a $5,000 Nikon
D2x ( model # ? new digital camera much wanted by not quite ready to
ship in volume).... The digital thing is just nuts. The requirement
for instant gratification is worse than the Polaroid craze in the 70's.

Damn, this thing better produce the equivalent
of 4x5 chromes for that money. ;-)
