Thanks Bob,
I like the hockey-stick name, although hockey puck might also describe 
it: small, solid, black, and very sturdy--not much to break on it!

1930--Wow. It's had a long and active life. Too bad there's no way to 
know what it saw in the 15 - 16 years before my mom bought it.
