John,

I firmly think that black & white is the right choice. IMO, it brings 
an atmosphere to an event that is so well covered and known in colour. 
I have to admit that I have personally always disliked the costumes and 
masks of the Venice Carnavale. I can't really explain why, but I just 
don't. However, several of these shots in B&W have made it more 
interesting for me. Of course, the first shot in the series has to be 
B&W.

For me, shots 1, 10 & 14.
