Douglas,
Interesting, my baffle is taller, much taller than the one you
displayed.  It may be possible that the gnomes were creative the day my
lens was put together.

here are a couple of shots of the Summicron 35 and the SL with the
aforesaid 
attached and focus set at infinity, ie the baffle is as far into the
camera as 
it will go.

Is your baffle higher ? or is it possible that early SLs had a slightly 
different mirror construction? The SL shown here is a very late model.
